This incident of polie brutality took place May 25 2020, and set off a series of protests and calls for action against police brutality. He was murdered near the intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago ave. 44-year-old former police officer Dereck Chauvin had arrested Floyd on suspicion of a counterfeit $20 bill. This small arrest then led to Chauvin kneeling on George's neck for an excessive total of 8 minutes and 46 seonds, leading to George Floyds tragic death. Many believe that George as killed due to drug use, or former health issues, but this is clearly a case of excessive force and police brutality on another person of color in America.
